I purchased the RAX33 after considering a new Matthews, Hoyt, and Elite. I owned a Matthews z7 for the last 14 years and decided to upgrade. There were several online reviews that helped sell me on the Xpedition, and for the price, I couldn't afford not to. I'm thankful I did!
This model may not be the flagship bow, but I would consider the fit and finish up there with the best manufacturers. The Ops Green Riser and Realtree Excape look sharp. I love that the draw length is adjustable, and the draw cycle is smooth while still having a solid back wall. I ordered the 65# draw weight due to the fact that that was the only poundage left available in the model, yet it shoots much like my 70# solocam, if not more. So the bow is fast!
Sight in was fairly easy once it was setup. I used all Red-Line accessories and they fit the bill on this bow well. It also has the option for a rear stabilizer, which I opted to take advantage of. Using a 3 pin setup, the bow is fast and accurate enough to shoot one pin to 30 yards, therefore making it an ideal hunting bow for me. I'm sure it would make a good distance 3D or western hunting bow as well.
If I had any complaints, and mind you they are minor, is I wish the hand grip was a little more attractive. It is functional and comfortable, but could use some enhancement. And also, the cable guard is functional, but not as well designed as newer models and mfrs. Lastly, there appears to be a slight metallic stud when I shoot the bow, so it is fairly quiet, but maybe not the most quiet on the market.
Would I buy it again? Yes, for the money I definitely would. For full price of this model, yes still.
This seems like an all-around multi purpose bow that will last and do what I need it to do, and that is take down whitetails.
